At the time of Kaspar Jodok Stockalper, there was already a Briger beer brewery. The Briger brewery was located in the lower Burgschaft in a property with several cellar floors. The ice for cooling the beer came from the cold-water glacier on the Simplon and was transported to the cellars of the Briger Burgschaft by horse-drawn carts and sledges. Cooling with glacier ice was widespread before the invention of refrigeration equipment. For the alpine economy the processing of the ice and the transport were not insignificant. Moreover, the cold water glacier could be reached relatively easily by carts via the Napoleonic Simplon road. Of course, the fact that the volume of the glaciers in the 19th century was several times that of today also played a role. People even tried to slow down the advance of the ice masses with processions of supplication. Today, as is well known, the glaciers are retreating and the enormous water reservoirs are dwindling. At least they are no longer needed for cooling beer. And the Briger beer brewery is also a thing of the past. Since the end of 2017, we had our beer brewed especially for us, according to our recipe, in our Bavarian family brewery. With corners and edges. We use only natural ingredients. We brew according to the German purity law. Beer is close to our hearts. Since the end of 2020, we brew our beer ourselves in our new BrigerBierBrauerei AG
